This 5-day class instructor-led course will help get you up to speed quickly on how to build enterprise class SOA and business process solutions using the latest Microsoft developer products and technologies. Through extensive lecture and hands-on labs, this class will introduce you to the concepts for designing, building, and deploying SOA-enabled applications using BizTalk Server 2006 R2, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow Foundation (WF).

You will also learn how to build stunning visual applications that connect to SOA-based systems using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Silverlight, how to use LINQ to access data sources, and how to secure assets using the Identity Framework tools.

At course completion students will be able to:

• Describe industry-standard Service-Oriented Architecture concepts and terminology
• Explain the business benefits of SOA solutions and identify common implementation scenarios
• Identify the Microsoft products and technologies used to build connected systems solutions
• Create distributed applications using the Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
• Build WCF client applications to consume services
• Streamline application development using software factories
• Build workflow applications using the Windows Workflow Foundation (WF)
• Wrap workflow application as WCF services
• Implement a human-approval workflow using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS)
• Query data sources using Language Integrated Query (LINQ)
• Build rich interfaces using the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
• Develop a claims-aware application for user authentication
• Manage identities using CardSpace
• Define the role of BizTalk Server in a connected systems solution
• Create BizTalk messaging and business process automation applications
• Build a BizTalk orchestration to consume ASMX and WCF services
• Identify the role of the Enterprise Service Bus Guidance in building loosely-coupled BizTalk solutions
